Get answers to the most commonly asked questions about:
- What does this really do?
- In a nutshell, you input the affiliate link and the software outputs the HTML code for a complete
web page to use that hides the link (the wrapper page). There are more options like input for META tags
so you can submit the wrapped page created to search engines, etc., but using these extra features is up to you.
- How do I know the link still goes where it used to?
- The software has been extensively tested - so I can assure you, the links
go where they are supposed to, even though you or I can't read them.
Just double check to make sure you type the link in correctly before you generate the page!!
After you save the wrapper page,
test it by double clicking the file - if you're connected to the internet it should work
just like it would if it was already on your server.
- Why don't you include an FTP program too?
- Because most people already have one (maybe two) FTP programs that do a great job, so
why make you set up another one just for this?? If you do need an FTP program,
here are two that are excellent (and free):
Direct FTP
and, Smart FTP.
- I'm not good with HTML, can I still use this?
- Absolutely, the entire HTML code from start to finish for
the wrapper page is generated for you by the software.
The only thing you have to do is replace the affiliate link in your
existing page(s) with a link to the wrapper page.
- How can I tell if my links are being hijacked now?
- The scarry thing is - you may never know for sure. But if you have the same number
of visitors (or more), haven't made major changes to your site, and your
sales are down - that's a hint. Of course sales may have been down all along because of link theft, so....
The best way to tell is give Affiliate Link Wrapper a try, and see if your sales and
clickthrus start to increase.

- How does this work?
- You just input the message you want to display, and the length of time (in months) between
displays, and e-Z Opt-In generates the code you need to insert in your page. You can insert the code
on as many pages of your site as you want to, and your visitors will still only see the message
once on the first page they visit. They won't see the message again until the
length of time you have specified has passed (or if they take you up on your offer, never).
- Won't this annoy my visitors?
- No, because the visitor will only see the message once a month at most,
and if they subscribe chances are they will never see the message again. Also,
e-Z Opt-In doesn't use regular pop-ups associated with ads, it uses system-type messages.
- How does e-Z Opt-In keep track of the time between message displays?
- By using cookies. Cookies are a dependable way to keep track of the fact that a visitor has already seen the message, and cookies easily keep track of the time until the next display.
- How do I know cookies will work with my site?
- Cookies will work unless your visitor has them turned off in their browser settings - cookie use doesn't need
anything from your web host. Most surfers have cookies turned on, because the
major sites use them and their general features don't work without cookies.
- What do I do if I already have a script that runs when the page is loaded?
- Just add e-Z Opt-In to the list (or start a list) like this - onLoad="script1();script2();script3();"
- the user guide that comes with e-Z Opt-In gives you the exact details.

- I have a good no right click, why would I want to use this?
- No right click scripts are not foolproof, and if someone manages to get
around your script, your sensitive data is there in plain sight. With e-Z Hider, your
data is not readable, so you have an added layer of protection. And e-Z Hider can protect
your email address from SPAM-bots, which a 'no right click' script can't do.
- Does e-Z Hider encrypt my data?
- No, it encodes the text so it not 'human readable'. Encryption uses mathematical algorithms
with a 'key' to transform the data - and in order to have encrypted data browser-readable, the
key has to be passed to the browser along with the page, or provided by the user (like a password).
Otherwise, encrypted data isn't readable by the browser - and passing the key with the page defeats
the whole purpose of encryption, so encoding is the best method for general web applications.
- How do I know my email link/url/download link still works?
- The encoding method used by e-Z Hider is compatible with current browsers, and has been extensively tested.
It's always a good idea to test any changes you make to your pages, just to make sure
(you might have made a typo)!

- I don't get it - What does PayPal Seller Shield do exactly?
- In a nutshell, here's what e-Z PPSS does: in Step 1, e-Z PPSS generates the HTML code for
a return page replacement - the 'dummy' return page - with the real return page 'hidden' inside.
You will use this generated return page in Step 2. In Step 2, e-Z PPSS generates
the HTML code for the PayPal web accept button, with the data in the hidden form fields
actually hidden in the code, so if someone views your source, they still can't view your data.
- Why would I want to create a dummy return page?
- The dummy return page is just another layer of protection on top of the
form data hiding. By making a dummy return page, the name of your real return page is not even
part of the form data (your dummy page is). So, if someone does manage to get at your form data, they still don't have your real return page.
This is an optional step, so if you don't feel the need you don't have to create one - just use your real return page in Step 2.
- How do I know my form still works right?
- The code generated by e-Z PPSS is compatible with all browsers, so your PayPal form should work
exactly as it did before it was 'shielded'. Since PayPal doesn't let you make a 'test' sale to go all the way throught the process in one step - here's what
I recommend. After you create the 'dummy' return page (Step 1), double click on the file on your PC, and it
should load your return page. After you insert the shielded form code into your order page (Step 2), view
that page on your PC, and click on the PayPal button -- you should get to the payment page on the PayPal server.
That way you ensure you haven't made any typos, etc. while inputting your data before you
upload the files to your server.
- What about PayPal's IPN?
- e-Z PayPal Seller Shield can be used in conjuction with PayPal's IPN. Of course, you will need to have a server-side script to handle the IPN processing.
If you are selling thousands of dollars a day via PayPal, or if you are an expert at CGI, you may be considering using PayPal's IPN feature.
You can either customize your own CGI script (or hire someone to do it for you) and use PayPal's IPN feature to tie into your website's backend processing.
If you are selling downloadable products, and you want an easy IPN solution for downloads, check out
Download Doctor, an easy-to-use php script that has an IPN interface
- and I know it works with e-Z PayPal Seller Shield because I've been using them both together for months.
- I'm still confused by all of this...
- Read this white paper on source code protection, maybe it will help.

- I'm not sure how I'd use this, help...
- First, you need a website that sells a product or service that you have pricing control over.
Second, you have to want to offer a special price either to new visitors or to all visitors.
If you meet these two criteria, then using e-Z Special Offer Generator is a piece of cake.
The software prompts you for information
like your special price, special offer description, end date, etc. -- and from your inputs, the
software creates the customized code you need to put on your page for that special offer.

- What do I need to use this?
- First, you need a website that sells a product or service that you have pricing control over. And, you need a PC with Windows 95 or later (or emulators if you have a Mac).
The software prompts you for the information
like the amount for your coupon, expiration date, etc. -- and from your inputs, the
software creates the coupon code and the customized code you need to put on your web page to process the coupon - and to put on your order page to let your visitors know the coupon was processed successfully.
If you want, the software will even create the actual coupon for you to cut and paste into an email or website. Or, you can just include the coupon code in a text-based email.
- Can I use e-Z Coupon Creator if I am already using Special Offer Generator?
- Yes, you can add coupon processing on top of any limited-time specials you created with Special Offer Generator. They work together flawlessly. For a quick how-to guide, right click here to download, or just click to view.

- I use a WYSIWYG editor, why do you recommend I use Notepad?
- WYSIWYG HTML editors, like FrontPage, tend to modify HTML code that they don't generate. So,
to avoid these problems, you should use a text editor like NotePad to paste the code
generated -- you don't need the services of a WYSIWYG editor because you already have the
code -- and the code is designed to go in your page as is without modification.
- How do I cut and paste?
- Use your mouse to select the text you want to copy - just click at the start of
the text, drag the mouse and release it when you get to the end of the text you want.
After you've selected the text, just hit 'Ctrl-C' (the Ctrl and the C keys both at the same time) -
this copies the text to the Clipboard. To paste it somewhere, just put the cursor where you want the text
to start, and hit 'Ctrl-V'.
- Why don't you show the output of your programs in a screenshot?
- Because in my opinion, that's a really dumb thing to do. Showing would-be hackers what they would need to do
to try to 'decrypt' the output defeats the whole purpose. I know competing products do include
screenshots of their output, but
I think doing so potentially weakens their solutions.
- Do you test all your software?
- Yes, absolutely. All our software undergoes rigorous testing before it's released.
I do most of the functional testing myself, and I have the best 'destructive'
tester around - my 10 year old son.
I've found out the hard way with five kids using the computer, that the best way to see
what can possibly go wrong is to let
the them loose with the software and see what happens. So now I
put all my software through 'the Tony test' too before it's released.
- Do you have an affiliate program?
- Yes, but it is only available to e-Z Soft customers. I don't know about you, but I really don't like being bombarded by 'the affiliate program' when I visit other websites - so I just don't do that (plus, it's not fair to the affiliates).
- Do you offer resale rights to your software?
- No, and I never will. Resale/reprint rights started on the Internet with ebooks, and although there are problems there too, by and large resale rights work ok for ebooks. But, software is another story -- there is the question of support and upgrades that goes hand in hand with software, which makes resale rights much less successful with software (unless it's a one time shot, no support, no upgrades -- but that is not the e-Z Soft business model).
